Cultivating Flourishing in a Remote Environment
Honorary Doctorate Mini-lecture by Jane Dutton
Presented by Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University
About this Event
How do you find working with Zoom, MS Teams and other kinds of virtual platforms? Can we improve the way we work with this technology?
In this unique session, Professor Jane Dutton will present her research-based tips and tricks for thriving in a virtual environment. Her exclusive presentation is to mark the award of her honorary doctorate from Erasmus University Rotterdam on the occasion of the university’s Dies Natalis two days later. Prof. Dutton is from the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan.
The main question that Prof. Dutton will address is: How do we ensure that online meetings lead to productive interactions and foster connectedness, rather than isolation and loneliness?
She will share her thoughts on the effectiveness of virtual meetings, drawing on her ground-breaking research on positive relationships at work. You will learn how virtual meetings can be:
- Re-imagined as ways to connect rather than feel disconnected
- Used as a tool to harbor the creative energies and passions of people into productive outcomes rather than as just another medium of information exchange
