“Integral to The Lunch Room’s mission is building community. Our business strives to be a place of warmth and caring. Its owners strive to create a positive and welcoming environment for staff and customers alike, and to serve food that is good for people and the planet.”

“For customers: we greet them warmly, get to know our regulars by name, and provide a lunch counter where solo diners can comfortably sit and interact with our cooks and other customers.”

“For staff: we offer direct, compassionate communication, relatively high pay for the industry, flexible scheduling, and a warm, family-type environment…We provide a supportive environment for them, celebrating their victories, and giving them an opportunity to succeed after bumps in their personal road.”

“For the community at large: we support numerous local nonprofits and individuals with serious illnesses with donations of food and gift cards…In January 2016 we launched our 10% for the community program, whereby we donate 10% of all proceeds after 5:00 pm on Saturdays to a worthy cause.”

“For the environment: We recycle and compost year-round. All of our to-go containers are either compostable or recyclable. We purchase local, organic food as much as possible.”
