Want to stop the Great Resignation? Start building inclusive workplaces,” writes Center for Positive Organizations (CPO) Research Advisory Board Member Stephanie Creary in The Philadelphia Tribune.

The article, co-authored with Wharton School deputy dean and management professor Nancy Rothbard, explains how companies can stem the unemployment tide by creating workplaces that are more fair, inclusive, and equitable. Creary and Rothbard offer specific guidance to help managers achieve this goal. They also caution that good management isn’t enough: DEI practices must be valued by everyone across the organization to be impactful.

“Companies that earn a reputation for being a place where everyone is seen, heard and valued may not have to worry about the Great Resignation — whether that’s in the coming months or long after the COVID-19 pandemic is behind us,” the researchers write.

Creary is an Assistant Professor of Management at the University of Pennsylvania.
