David Mayer on happiness and success in Fast Company
April 13, 2016
CPO faculty member David M. Mayer writes about success and happiness in his latest leadership column in FastCompany, “Why Your Idea Of Success Might Be Making You Miserable.” Much of Mayer’s research focuses on ethical leadership in organizations and how leaders in business can make meaningful, moral, and lasting impressions on those around them.
The article looks at research on defining happiness and success, explaining that sometimes the quest for success actually makes people less happy. Mayer suggests leaders change their perspective, and instead focus on what he calls moral excellence, “meaning simply, being the best person one can possibly be,” he writes.
Mayer concludes his story with four simple habits that can make you happier, and it starts with thinking small.
