Dean Scott DeRue shares New Year’s Resolutions

January 11, 2017

In an interview with Poets and Quants, Michigan Ross Dean, Scott DeRue, shared his Positive Organizational Scholarship-themed resolutions for the new year.

Leveraging insights from Eleanor Roosevelt and Thomas Edison, DeRue’s resolutions include the willingness to take risks and the freedom to innovate. Alongside these resolutions, he also illustrated the importance of maintaining high-quality connections.

“In a day when people count friends by likes and retweets, it is easy to forget that we need to feel deeply connected to others. Yet, our data suggests the quality of our relationships drives everything from life satisfaction and employee commitment to customer loyalty in retail settings,” DeRue told Poets and Quants.

Scott DeRue is the Edward J. Frey Dean of Business and a Stephen M. Ross Professor of Business at the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business, and a faculty associate at the Center for Positive Organizations.
