In a recent NPR article titled, “From Couch Potato To Fitness Buff: How I Learned To Love Exercise,” Michelle Segar debunks preconceived notions of what actually defines “exercise.” “The research does now show that basically all movement counts, and anything is better than nothing,” Segar tells NPR. She offers suggestions as to how you can incorporate the many missed exercise opportunities regularly available to you into your daily routine.

Segar, a faculty associate of the Center, is Director of the Sport, Health, and Activity Research and Policy Center at the University of Michigan. She authored No Sweat: How the Simple Science of Motivation Can Bring You a Lifetime of Fitness.
