Beth Schinoff
Faculty Affiliate, Center for Positive Organizations
Assistant Professor, University of Delaware
Beth S. Schinoff is a relationships and identity scholar in organizational behavior. She is a member of the Academy of Management and a member of the steering committee for the Positive Relationships at Work Microcommunity.
Beth’s research seeks to answer the question: “how do workers come to feel connected to others and understand themselves and others when the contextual conditions inhibit such understanding and connection?” She is particularly interested in the processes that enable employees to personalize their co-worker relationships; that is, to come to know and understand their co-workers in ways that individuate them beyond the work they do, and in how these relationships shape individuals’ identities. Her goal is to build theory by using a qualitative, inductive approach that lays a foundation for more productive and effective co-worker relationships in work organizations.
Beth earned her BS in communication studies from Northwestern University, her MBA at the University of Illinois at Chicago and her PhD in organizational behavior at Arizona State University.
