Assistant Professor, Cornell University ILR School
Courtney L. McCluney is a diversity, equity, and inclusion scholar in organizational behavior. She is a member of the Academy of Management, Venture Capital Inclusion Lab, and the Harvard Business School Gender Initiative.
Courtney’s research program investigates how marginalization—or practices and processes that historically and systematically maintain inequality between social identity groups—persist in a variety of organizational contexts. She is particularly interested in unearthing how marginalization practices become embedded in organizations, and strategies that members of marginalized groups use to navigate and resist these practices.
Prior to completing her PhD, she was a graduate research fellow with Catalyst, Inc. Prior to beginning doctoral studies, McCluney was a Resident in Social Enterprise at New Sector Alliance in Boston, MA.
Courtney earned her BA in psychology and organizational communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and MS and PhD from the University of Michigan in Psychology.
