Associate Professor, Manhattan College
Reut Livne-Tarandach is an Associate Professor of Management at the O’Malley School of Business, Manhattan College. Dr. Livne-Tarandach’s research program is centered around humanistic management. In contrast to the economistic view of management that sees people as tools to attain organizational goals, humanistic management assumes that people matter, and thus call our attention to explore conditions and processes that promote human dignity, human flourishing, and organizations as caring ecologies that enliven rather than deplete the life of organizational members. Inspired by this perspective on management, Dr. Livne-Tarandach’s scholarly work explores the outcomes, antecedents, and processes underlying experiences of compassion, dignity, and community at work.
She is a member of the Compassion Lab and the co-founder and leader of the Community mini-community, an international group of scholars studying community experiences in organizations.
Her research has been published in outlets including the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Organizational Behavior, and Rutgers Business Review. She serves on the editorial board of the Academy of Management Journal and is an associate editor of the Business and Society Review Journal.
Before launching her academic career, Dr. Livne-Tarandach worked as an organizational consultant and an HR manager. She earned her BA in Behavioral Science from Ben Gurion University, her MSc. in Organization Research from the Technion Israel Institute of Technology, and her PhD in Organizational Studies from Boston College.
