In the Harvard Business Review article, “Employee Surveys Are Still One of the Best Ways to Measure Engagement,” Adam Grant and co-authors Scott Judd and Eric O’Rourke explain why in this new era of passive, machine-learning forecasts it is still important to offer employee surveys.

Grant et al. give three reasons to still use surveys: surveys are a great predictor of behavior, surveys give employees a chance to feel heard, and surveys are a vehicle for changing behavior.

Grant is a member of the Center for Positive Organization’s Advisory Board, the Class of 1965 Wharton Professor of Management and professor of Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, and author of Originals and Option B.
