Amy Wrzesniewski was interviewed by Shankar Vedeantam on NPR’s The Hidden Brain Podcast, “How to build a better job,” about purpose at work.

Wrzesniewski stated that “people are about equally split on whether they say they have a “job,” a “career,” or a “calling” regardless of the type of work they do. According to her research, people who see their work as a calling are more satisfied professionally and with life in general.

Wrzesniewski is professor of Organizational Behavior at Yale University and a member of the Advisory Board for the Center for Positive Organizations. Her research focuses on purpose in the workplace.
