Aspen Institute honors two Ross professors as Faculty Pioneers

The Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program has honored two Michigan Ross professors, Andrew Hoffman and Ted London, with Faculty Pioneer Awards for teaching and research that tackles society’s most pressing challenges. They are both faculty associates with the Center for Positive Organizations. Hoffman will offer a presentation on December 6 as a part of the Positive Links Speaker Series, and London will speak in April of 2017.


Andrew Hoffman’s Faculty Pioneer Award recognizes his place at the vanguard of teaching about the interface of business and society. His Pioneer Award demonstrates leadership and risk taking in building a curriculum that examines the relationship between capital markets, corporations, and the public good.


Ted London’s award comes with a Field Building distinction for his longstanding contributions to base-of-the-pyramid strategies. The award recognizes his impact on the collective understanding of a field of inquiry and, importantly, how that field of inquiry is taught in MBA classrooms.

The Aspen Institute is an educational and policy study organization that provides a nonpartisan venue for dealing with critical issues.

“This year’s Faculty Pioneers are leading the charge toward a more modern version of business education,” said Claire Preisser, who manages the Faculty Pioneer selection process as associate director of the Aspen Institute Business & Society Program.
