Barbara Fredrickson’s research on positivity and its connection to brain and body health is featured in “Turning Negative Thinkers Into Positive Ones,” for the New York Times.

The article discusses the importance of positive moments and emotions to create a healthy life, that “micro-moments of positivity” increase happiness and protects individuals from stress and anxiety. The research suggests that well-being and positive self-care can be learned. The article closes with eight practices described to “foster positive emotions.”

Frederickson is a member of the Center’s Research Advisory Board and Kenan Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
