Washington Post quotes Dave Mayer on ethics and leadership

January 25, 2017

The Washington Post published an article, including a quote from David Mayer, addressing ethics in leadership. The article discusses a Tweet from then President-elect Donald Trump in which he promoted L. L. Bean.

Mayer told the Washington Post, “it’s natural for people to want to reward those who demonstrate loyalty. But reciprocity from the president-elect,” he said, “is problematic for the free market, creating incentive for executives to craft their messaging around pleasing the country’s leader.”

Mayer is a member of the faculty in management and organizations at Michigan Ross and a core faculty member at the Center for Positive Organizations. His research focuses on how organizations can create environments that promote ethical behavior and discourage wrongdoing.
