September 21, 2020
Forbes interviews Center for Positive Organizations (CPO) core faculty member Wayne Baker in the article “Need Help? Don’t Be Afraid To Ask.”
The article explores the idea that asking for help is essential to success for individuals, teams and organizations. It also suggests strategies employees can use to develop the skill and leaders can use to create a culture where asking for help is encouraged.
“Successful people generously help others and ask for what they need. By asking, you get the resources you need—such as ideas, information, opportunities, referrals, advice, and so on—to be productive and do your work well,” Baker tells Forbes.
Wayne Baker, PhD, is Faculty Director of the Center for Positive Organizations at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. He is the author of the book, All You Have to Do Is Ask: How to Master the Most Important Skill for Success.
