November 25, 2024

Faculty Director of the Center for Positive Organizations and and faculty member in the Organizations and Management group at the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, Monica Worline created an online course, Generative Leadership: Inspiring Adaptability in an AI World, with Michigan Online.

The world’s best leaders inspire adaptability in the face of uncertainty. In ‘Generative Leadership: Inspiring Adaptability in the AI World,’ you will learn how to adopt a generative leader mindset in the fast-changing world of AI-driven change. Throughout the course, you will learn about generative leadership: a form of leading that creates unique, resourceful environments where employees thrive as they embrace challenge and change. You’ll also explore the principles of generative leadership and see how they are used in real-world organizations. Based on these principles, you’ll be challenged to identify ways you can put them into practice in your organization or workplace, allowing you to think deeply about your role as a generative leader. By gaining an understanding of generative leadership and using it to create greater flexibility in your work, you’ll be better prepared to stand out as a leader and provide a space that allows people to flourish during change.

“As a generative leader, you understand that the type of metaphor you use unlocks a vision of human connection and a feeling of support. It shapes the meaning we make of the technology.” Monica Worline

Course takeaways:

  • Explore how generative leadership helps build a new mindset for leading resourcefully and enhancing organizational thriving.
  • Apply a generative leader mindset and generative leadership strategies to real-world scenarios that involve adaptability to AI-driven change.
  • Explain the impact of threat rigidity on organizations and how generative leadership can help overcome it.

This course is free for current U-M students, faculty, staff, and alumni. $49 registration fee for anyone outside of the University of Michigan.
