Gretchen Spreitzer contributes to Financial Times article about flexible work
March 22, 2019
Gretchen Spreitzer was quoted in a Financial Times article titled, “Flexible working’s unforeseen tensions.” The article explores the practical application of “remote work and fluid hours,” especially for women who more often manage home (i.e., family) care. In the article, Spreitzer helps to identify one unintended obstacle in offering a flexible work environment: an existing work culture with “rigid norms about the way work should get done.”
Spreitzer is the Keith E. and Valerie J. Alessi Professor of Business Administration, professor of management and organizations, and a member of the Center for Positive Organizations’ core faculty. Her research focuses on employee empowerment and leadership development.
