Monica Worline interviewed on Plural of You
March 23, 2017
Monica Worline, faculty affiliate at the Center for Positive Organizations, was interviewed by Josh Morgan for a Plural of You podcast.
The interview explores compassion and Worline’s new book, co-authored with Jane Dutton, Awakening Compassion at Work: The Quiet Power That Elevates People and Organizations. In a question and answer conversation, Worline discusses the evidence supporting compassion in the workplace and the benefits of compassionate practices.
According to Worline, one surprising benefit of compassion is increased learning and innovation in organizations. She explains that “Learning at work requires failing…trying out things that don’t work. You can start to see that compassion for errors and mistakes…building up relationships that can tolerate the difficultly of failing at things” is necessary to learning, growth, and creativity.
