March 20, 2019

Why rich parents are more likely to be unethical,” an article that David M. Mayer wrote for The Conversation, has been republished by regional and national media outlets.

In the aftermath of the recent college admissions scam, Mayer used his background in psychology to help explain why wealthy individuals behave unethically. He walks readers through the rationalization of unethical behavior which includes elements of entitlement, fear of status loss, and feelings of invulnerability.

Mayer is part of the Center for Positive Organizations’ core faculty and a professor of management and organizations. His research focuses on how organizations can create environments that promote ethical behavior and discourage wrongdoing.
