Social connection is crucial during physical distancing, Jane Dutton tells Thrive Global

April 27, 2020

Thrive Global interviews Center for Positive Organizations (CPO) co-founder Jane Dutton in the article “Can You Stay Physically Distanced But Socially Connected As You Work?”.

The interview explores the importance of high-quality connections for physical, mental, and organizational wellbeing. Dutton also offers recommendations for how workers can stay socially connected, even as they maintain physical distancing.

“It’s a really important time for us to be connecting as we work, partly because of the magic of what connection does,” Dutton says. “It’s an extraordinarily powerful booster shot or vitamin that we can take to help us be psychologically and physiologically and socially stronger.”

Dutton is a CPO core faculty member and the Robert L. Kahn Distinguished University Emerita Professor of Business Administration and Psychology at the University of Michigan.
