April 14, 2025

The University of Michigan’s Center for Positive Organizations is delighted to welcome Emmy Award-winning journalist and author Allison Gilbert to campus for two insightful events, focusing on her latest book, “The Joy of Connections,” co-authored with the renowned Dr. Ruth. Gilbert’s visit, slated for May 14-15, 2025, promises to offer impactful insights into building meaningful relationships during challenging times.

On May 14, Gilbert will kick off her engagement at the Co-Learning Consortium May Member Forum. The Co-Learning Consortium is an innovative collaboration that brings together scholars, students, and industry professionals to engage in mutual learning and knowledge exchange on building positive organizational practices. Gilbert’s session, “The Power and Importance of Connections in Tumultuous Times,” aligns seamlessly with this year’s forum theme, “Amplifying Well-Being in Tumultuous Times.” In conversation with Chris Murchison, a global culture consultant, she will delve into how genuine connections are vital, especially during periods of upheaval. Gilbert will share her framework for addressing the loneliness epidemic and encourage consortium members to nurture meaningful relationships.

Following this event, Gilbert will address a distinguished gathering of over 200 global scholars at the POS Research Conference on May 15. This two-day conference is a premier event for scholars dedicated to advancing research in positive organizational scholarship. Gilbert’s session will provide a unique opportunity for scholars to explore the critical role of connections in fostering well-being and resilience in academia and beyond.

These events provide an exceptional platform for the Center for Positive Organizations community to engage with Gilbert’s profound insights on human connection. By addressing how nurturing relationships can enhance both personal and professional well-being, Gilbert’s discussions are set to inspire and equip attendees with strategies for thriving in today’s complex world.
