September 8, 2016

An article penned by Robert Quinn in Chief Learning Officer remarked on how the fear of change is an impediment to growth.

He explains five strategies that can influence a greater openness to learning and change. These include creating a sense of purpose, having authentic conversations, orienting people to the reality of possibility, embracing the common good, and trusting the emerging process. He further explains the importance of these in establishing trust: a key shock absorber that helps organizations to more readily pursue and endure change.

Robert E. Quinn is a Margaret Elliott Tracy Collegiate Professor in Business Administration and Professor of Management and Organizations at the Michigan Ross. He is a co-founder of the Center for Positive Organizations, and among other works, the author of The Positive Organization.
