An Interview with Raj Sisodia

In January 2018, the Center for Positive Organizations’ (CPO) Jane Dutton and Monica Worline sat down with Conscious Capitalism’s c0-founder Raj Sisodia to talk about his research on organizational healing.

Sisodia was on campus as part of CPO’s Positive Links Speaker Series. (Watch his talk, titled “The Healing Organization.”)

In the roughly 30 minute interview with Raj, Jane and Monica asked six questions. Use the time stamps below to jump ahead to the question that interests you most.

Question 1

Time stamp: 00:56

We know you are writing about organizational healing. Would you tell us the journey that brought you to be writing a book about that topic?

Question 2

Time stamp 07:31

So Raj, I’m really curious about, in your experience, how do you know when an organization is a healing organization?

Question 3

Time stamp 13:27

When you’re thinking about how to resource people who want to create these kinds of healing organizations, what are you helping them learn and know?

Question 4

Time stamp 15:14

Well building off that, I’m wondering how has thinking about this changed you? How has putting this frame of organizational healing out there, and saying I’m going to write about this, how has it changed you?

Question 5

Time stamp 18:37

Well, as you know, we have been writing about compassion, and you’re writing and talking now about finding joy through suffering. And I think there are some important, deep links between how you’re talking about healing and what we’ve been thinking about related to compassion. Do you want to talk aloud a little bit about those things?

Question 6

Time stamp 22:27

That’s sort of a final question, what do you see as the role of business schools in this conversation about organizational healing?

Sisodia’s latest book, The Healing Organization: Awakening the Conscience of Business to Help Save the World, will be available September 17, 2019.
